Allergies—Maybe it’s Mold

Pollen, plus ragweed, plus pet dander equal itchy eyes, runny noses, and sneezes for seasonal allergy sufferers. While these outdoor allergens may be scary, there may be another culprit lurking under the roof of your home—mold! It has led to allergy and “respiratory problems that may prove deadly.” To arm yourself against mold, the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology offers these helpful guidelines:

• Keep humidity level less than 40%
• Ensure your home has adequate ventilation
• Wipe down shower curtains frequently
• Reduce the number of indoor plants
• Fix water leaks, which allow mold to grow
• Do not carpet bathrooms or basements
