ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER isn’t just for kids

Not only children, but adults too are becoming victims of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). Technological  bombardment through quick, easily accessible electronic devices is encouraging more American adults to become impulsive.

“The average American office worker sends or receives 201 messages a day—voice mail, E-mail, faxes, and the occasional Post-it-Notes. Cellphones, pagers, and hand-held computers ensure we’re always plugged in….Yet the interactions these devices produce are fleeting.” This communication overload “leaves people feeling distracted and restless—the very symptoms associated with ADD.”

To stay updated and knowledgeable, Americans take on more information than they can handle. As a result, words like “relaxation,” “patience,” and “your undivided attention” become a foreign language. With continual technological developments, these symptoms of ADD can only increase. U.S. News & World Report, March 26, 2001, p. 14.

It is Satan’s device to baffle and distract the brain so deceptions cannot be discerned.

God counsels, “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.” 1 Peter 4:7.

When the mind is distracted by the latest technology, it cannot understand the fulfillment of prophecy. God-given wisdom comes only as we take quiet time to hear the Lord’s voice: “Be still, and know that I am God…” Psalm 46:10.
